Sue's Prayer Reflections - January

I remember taking a group of school children into York Minister. 10 yr. old Sharon asked if it would be O.K to say a prayer for her grandmother who was ill. Then was not the time to explain that God is everywhere and always ready to hear us when we pray – for her, being in church made it special, and it may be for you too.

You may wish to use the area at the front of the Lady Chapel. Here you will find books and prayer cards which may help – also Bibles. There is a small statue of Our Lady, an icon of Christ and one of St. Alban which you may wish to focus on. Under the War Memorial is the Memorial Book. Bishop Alan’s book gives daily notes about saints and other remarkable people connected with the area covered by our diocese. On the pillar is a board where you can post prayer requests, both intercessions and prayers of thanks, and you may wish to respond to others’ requests. However, you may be content to just sit quietly.
